For Seniors and Families

Managing several medications can be stressful, for the person taking them and for the family members helping. This page explains, in plain language, how we can help, and how to get started. We serve seniors and families in North Vancouver and West Vancouver.

Medications sorted for you

Instead of a cupboard full of bottles, your medications arrive in small labelled packages. Each package shows your name, the date, and the time of day to take it. You open one package and take what is inside. That is it. If a dose is missed, you or your family can see it right away.

The packages are prepared at our pharmacy using an automated packaging machine, and every package is double checked by our staff before it leaves the pharmacy. Vitamins and other non-prescription items can be included, and we handle the refills so you do not run out.

A nurse who comes to you

For people who need more support, our nurses visit at home, up to twice a day. During a visit, the nurse can hand you your medications and watch that they are taken properly, help with insulin or other injections, help with eye drops or inhalers, and check things like blood pressure or blood sugar. After each visit, the nurse records how things went, and our pharmacist keeps your doctor and family informed.

What it costs

There is no charge for the packaging service or for a once daily home visit. For patients who need a home visit twice a day, a small daily charge applies. You pay for your medications the same way you do now, through PharmaCare and any private insurance you have. We can review your coverage with you before you start.

How to get started

  1. Call us at (604) 770-2030 or drop by the pharmacy at 1268 Marine Drive. A family member can call on your behalf.
  2. Meet the pharmacist. We review your complete medication list, answer your questions, and set up your packaging schedule. If you use another pharmacy today, we handle the transfer.
  3. Start receiving your packages. Delivery is included for North Vancouver and West Vancouver, and nurse visits begin whenever you and your doctor decide they are needed.

Worried about a parent?

Many of our patients join because a son or daughter noticed missed doses, confusion about pills, or a close call after a hospital stay. If this sounds familiar, call us. We will explain the options, and with your parent's consent we can coordinate directly with their doctor.
