How it works
Your pharmacist reviews your complete medication list, confirms it against PharmaNet, and prepares your medications in clearly labelled packages. Oral solid medications are packaged in daily pouches using our PacMed automated pouch packaging system. PacMed is a system used to improve accuracy and reduce medication errors: each pouch is machine filled, labelled with your name, the date, and the time of day, and then checked by a second staff member against your medication administration record before sealing.
Where daily pouches are not suitable, for example for medications that need refrigeration or special handling, we prepare weekly blister packs instead.
Benefits of compliance packaging
- No more opening multiple bottles or sorting pills by hand.
- Each pouch or blister shows what to take and when.
- You or your caregiver can easily see what has been taken and what has not.
- Non-prescription items such as vitamins can be included.
- Refills are managed by the pharmacy on an auto-refill schedule, so you do not run out.
Is compliance packaging right for you?
Consider asking us about compliance packaging if any of the following apply:
- You have missed doses or taken medications at the wrong time.
- You take five or more medications on a regular basis.
- You have been in hospital because of medication complications.
- Organizing your medications takes significant time and effort.
- You help a family member manage their medications and want a safer routine.
If you answered yes to any of these, speak with our pharmacist about having your medications prepared in compliance packaging. Taking medications in the correct amount at the correct time helps you get the most benefit from them.
